Shortly after the new album was completed, Savoy Brown founder, guitarist\/ singer\/ songwriter&nbsp;Kim Simmonds lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on December 13<sup>th<\/sup>, just a week after turning&nbsp;75.&nbsp;While recuperating from his initial cancer treatments, Simmonds had begun work on the new album that was to become&nbsp;<em>Blues All Around.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/perfectmusictoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/9FA4A149-44F0-471C-A219-6AD5CD682F57.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/perfectmusictoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/9FA4A149-44F0-471C-A219-6AD5CD682F57.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2985\" width=\"576\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmusictoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/9FA4A149-44F0-471C-A219-6AD5CD682F57.jpeg 420w, https:\/\/perfectmusictoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/9FA4A149-44F0-471C-A219-6AD5CD682F57-300x296.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim\u2019s death was announced on his Facebook page December 15<sup>th<\/sup>with the notation, \u201cOne of Kim\u2019s last requests was to thank the fans of Savoy Brown. Your support was, and shall always be, immensely appreciated.\u201d He first shared the news of his health on a Facebook post last August. At that time, he acknowledged that he needed to suspend his live performances for the year. He was originally diagnosed in September 2021 and surgery at that time \u201ckept me going with a decent quality of life,\u201d but chemotherapy made it difficult for him to perform. Simmonds noted that one of the side effects is peripheral neuropathy, which deadened the nerves in his fingers and hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Blues All Around<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;follows Savoy Brown\u2019s critically acclaimed 2022 album,&nbsp;<strong><em>Ain\u2019t Done Yet<\/em><\/strong>, and is lovingly dedicated to the band\u2019s families, friends and Savoy Brown fans everywhere.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe new album continues the approach I\u2019ve been taking with the band this past decade,\u201d said Kim Simmonds at the time of the sessions. Kim formed Savoy Brown in 1965 in London, England, and it has been one of the longest running Blues Rock bands in existence. \u201cThe big difference with the new album is the multi-layer approach I took to recording the guitar parts. It\u2019s all blues-based rock music. I try to find new and progressive ways to write and play the music I\u2019ve loved since I was a teenager,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Blues All Around<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;showcases Kim Simmonds\u2019 most-inspired guitar work and expressive vocals, since his illness during the recording sessions lead him to play a great deal more slide guitar than on previous albums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Longtime fan and critic favorites, Savoy Brown birthed in London 57 years ago and has been based in upstate New York for many years. Kim Simmonds had been the group&#8217;s guiding hand from the first singles released in 1966 through this newest effort,&nbsp;Savoy Brown\u2019s 42nd album. In 2017, the band\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Witchy Feelin\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0album\u00a0reached #1 on the\u00a0<strong><em>Billboard<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Blues Chart.  Savoy Brown established national status in the 1970s headlining iconic stages such as Carnegie Hall, The Academy of Music and the Fillmore East and West.
