Michael Hepworth<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n HOLLYWOOD (Perfect Music Today) 1\/20\/21\/–Earlier this month ABKCO released \u201cSpeak Now,\u201d a new single from\u00a0Grammy\u00ae and Tony\u00ae\u00a0winner Leslie Odom Jr. who portrays Sam Cooke in\u00a0One Night In Miami.<\/em>\u00a0 Today, an official music video for \u201cSpeak Now\u201d has been launched featuring Odom in intimate performance of the song which he composed for\u00a0One Night In Miami<\/em>\u00a0with Sam Ashworth.\u00a0 The \u201cSpeak Now\u201d video was directed by Bill Fishman and Simon Reinhart who also served as editor, the shoot was produced by Joseph Abate.<\/p>\n The song is heard in the film that was released last week through Amazon Studios and has been the focus of massive critical laudation.\u00a0 Concurrent with the film\u2019s premiere, ABKCO has released the album\u00a0One Night In Miami\u2026 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)<\/em>\u00a0which includes \u201cSpeak Now.\u201d<\/p>\n Watch \u201cSpeak Now\u201d Official Music Video Now<\/a><\/p>\n The highly personal song is a reflection of Odom\u2019s own point of view regarding the ongoing struggle for civil rights and human dignity and dovetails seamlessly with his performances in the film of some of the key components of Sam Cooke\u2019s repertoire, most notably the enduringly evocative \u201cA Change Is Gonna Come.\u201d<\/p>\n In \u201cSpeak Now\u201d Odom sings<\/p>\n I swear we\u2019ll never find our way to where we\u2019re going, all alone (on our own)<\/em><\/p>\n Don\u2019t take your eyes off the road<\/em><\/p>\n Can you hear the bells ring out?<\/em><\/p>\n Speak now<\/em><\/p>\n Speak now<\/em><\/p>\n Can you hear the angels singin\u2019 loud?<\/em><\/p>\n Speak now<\/em><\/p>\n Speak now<\/em><\/p>\n The singer\/actor\/composer commented, \u00a0\u201cThe movie is so special to me. Sam Cooke is dear to us all. We tried to hide that in the song we wrote.\u00a0In \u201cSpeak Now\u201d we\u2019ve called out to young people. It is an urgent call to action\u2014to speak, alongside our urging them to first listen.\u00a0\u00a0Listen…and then speak. We listen for instruction, for inspiration. Malcolm left them for us. Sam left them.\u201d<\/p>\n Odom rose to prominence originating the role of Aaron Burr in the Broadway musical\u00a0Hamilton\u00a0<\/em>for which he took home the Best Actor Tony and Grammy Awards. Late last year, he released\u00a0The Christmas album<\/em>, his second holiday album, which followed the release of\u00a0Mr<\/em>, his third album and first of all-original material. Odom can also be heard voicing the character of Owen Tillerman in the Apple TV+ animated musical comedy series\u00a0Central Park<\/em>, a role which earned him an Emmy\u00ae nomination.<\/p>\n Regarding his role in\u00a0One Night In Miami,<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0Odom commented\u00a0\u201cPlaying Sam Cooke was some big shoes to fill. Against all odds, he defeated Sonny Liston and shocked the sports world. While crowds of people swarm\u00a0Miami Beach to celebrate the match, Clay – unable to stay on there because of Jim Crow-era segregation laws –\u00a0instead spends the\u00a0night\u00a0at the Hampton House Motel\u00a0in one\u00a0of\u00a0Miami’s historically black neighborhoods. It was there that he celebrated his win with three of his closest friends: activist Malcolm X, singer Sam\u00a0Cooke\u00a0and football star Jim Brown. The next morning, the four men emerge determined to define a new world for themselves and their people.
