Two Singles, “The Midnight Sky” and “Aether Spaceship” Available Digitally with Pre-Order Beginning December 14<\/strong><\/p>\n

HOLLYWOOD 9Perfect Music Today) 12\/14\/20\/–ABKCO announce the release of\u00a0The Midnight Sky (Music from the Netflix Film)<\/em>\u00a0from Academy Award winning composer Alexandre Desplat on December 23 to coincide with the premiere of George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky on Netflix. Desplat worked with The London Symphony Orchestra for the dramatic score. The 22-track album will be released on December 23 on all digital services. Two tracks, “The Midnight Sky” and “Aether Spaceship” will be available instantly beginning December 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I sat down with Alexandre, he goes, \u2018Oh, you want me to write a concert.\u2019 \u201d George Clooney says, laughing. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018Yeah, I want you to write a concert!\u2019 And he did. He understands emotion as well as any composer I\u2019ve ever heard.\u201d<\/p>\n

“George\u2019s masterful directing and his true passion for music offered me a wonderful canvas on which to write music.\u201d comments Desplat. \u201cThe heartbreaking events depicted in the film, a dying earth, the delicate tender scenes between Augustine and Iris, the virtuoso sequences in space and the metaphysical questions raised allowed me to compose a score in which emotions, from the more intimate to the widest scope are emphasized by the amazing string section of the London Symphony orchestra.”<\/p>\n

The Midnight Sky<\/em><\/strong>, starring George Clooney, Felicity Jones, David Oyelowo, Tiffany Boone with\u202fDemi\u00e1n Bichir and Kyle Chandler and introducing Caoilinn Springall is an adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton\u2019s acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight. This post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe. ABOUT ALEXANDRE DESPLAT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two-time Academy Award winner and eleven-time nominee, Desplat won his first for\u00a0Grand Budapest Hotel<\/em>\u00a0in 2015, the year when he was competing against himself for\u00a0The Theory of Everything.\u00a0<\/em>Oscar awarded Desplat again in 2018 for\u00a0The Shape of Water.\u00a0<\/em>The prolific composer has collaborated with directors including Wes Anderson, Roman Polanski, Terrence Malick, Ang Lee, Kathleen Bigelow, Guillermo del Toro and Greta Gerwig.\u00a0<\/em>For director George Clooney he scored\u00a0Suburbicon,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Argo,<\/em>\u00a0the latter directed by Ben Affleck and produced by Grant Heslov and George Clooney. Among the eleven film scores for which Alexandre Desplat has received Academy Award nominations are three that have been released through ABKCO:\u00a0The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Isle of Dogs<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Grand Budapest Hotel<\/em>.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE MIDNIGHT SKY<\/strong><\/p>\n

George Clooney directs\u00a0and stars in\u00a0screenwriter Mark L. Smith\u2019s adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton\u2019s acclaimed 2016 post-apocalyptic novel, Good Morning, Midnight. The ensemble includes Academy Award\u00ae-nominated Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Golden-Globe-nominated David Oyelowo (Selma), Emmy-winner Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Academy Award \u00ae nominee Demia\u0301n Bichir (A Better Life). Rounding out the main cast are Tiffany Boone (Little Fires Everywhere), Ethan Peck, Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders), Miriam Shor and eight-year-old newcomer Caoilinn Springall.\u00a0\u00a0The film is produced by Clooney and his long time producing partner Grant Heslov, as well as Bard Dorros, Keith Redmon and Cliff Roberts.\u00a0The Director of Photography is Martin Ruhe, production designer is Jim Bissell, costume designer is Jenny Eagan and visual effects supervisors are Matt Kasmir and Chris Lawrence.
