HOLLYWOOD (Perfect Music Today) 11\/16\/20\/–With Thanksgiving looming, Rock Hall of Famer Dion returns yet again, this time with two brand new holiday themed tracks.\u00a0 The new songs, \u201cHello Christmas\u201d out now and \u201cYou Know It\u2019s Christmas,\u201d out next Friday through KTBA (Keeping The Blues Alive) Records, the label founded by Joe Bonamassa and his management team. KTBA Records released Dion\u2019s\u00a0Blues With Friends<\/em>, a massively successful album that has continued to top the Billboard Blues Chart since its release this past June.<\/p>\n

As with\u00a0Blues With Friends,<\/em>\u00a0the new tracks find Dion joined by top-flight artists in support of his efforts.\u00a0 \u201cHello Christmas\u201d features backing vocals by six-time GRAMMY\u00ae winner Amy Grant while Blues Rock Titan Joe Bonamassa joins Dion on \u201cYou Know It\u2019s Christmas.\u201d The two sides are reflective of the versality Dion has evinced as a multi-format singer and songwriter over the course of his phenomenal career that has spanned seven decades.<\/p>\n

Both of the new songs were written by Dion along with Mike Aquilina who co-wrote many of songs that are heard on\u00a0Blues With Friends.\u00a0<\/em>Dion revealed the impetus for following up that album with \u201cHello Christmas.\u201d \u201cI was talking with a friend about how the world this year can use a little life-giving love and harmony.\u00a0 I told him that Christmas was the grace that changed my life and that I was looking forward to a shot of that this year.\u00a0 The next day I got together with Mike and I picked up the guitar, started singing and words started to flow.\u00a0 Later I was walking with my buddy [and co-writer] Steve Bottari and he started singing along \u2013 with some new words.\u00a0 The song just seemed to write itself, a gift to finish off this challenging year. From the start I heard Amy Grant\u2019s voice on it; she just sounds like Christmas to me.\u00a0 I sent the track to her and she fell in love with it and added a beautiful counter-melody which makes it really sublime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amy Grant commented\u00a0“I was so happy to join my old friend Dion on \u2018Hello Christmas.\u2019 The song makes me smile every time I hear it.”<\/p>\n

As far as \u201cYou Know It\u2019s Christmas\u201d is concerned, Dion commented, \u201cBlues is my home and I wanted to write a Christmas song with that feeling.\u00a0 Mike suggested a \u2018brag blues\u2019 [in the tradition of \u201cThe Wanderer\u201d] so we thought what would a bluesman brag about at Christmas?\u00a0 How he bought just the right gift for his girl and how she\u2019s going to love it!\u00a0 Christmas is all about giving and I think the song catches that vibe perfectly.\u00a0 Joe Bonamassa gave me a great Christmas present by playing lead on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bonamassa remarked,\u00a0“It is always an honor to play alongside Dion, he is a National Treasure!”<\/p>\n

Blues With Friends\u00a0<\/em>offered thirteen original songs with Dion joined by a wide range of friends and admirers including\u00a0Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons, Brian Setzer, Sonny Landreth, Samantha Fish, John Hammond Jr., Joe Louis Walker, Rory Block , Jimmy and Jerry Vivino, vintage guitar guru Joe Menza as well as icons Stevie Van Zandt, Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Paul Simon\u00a0and, as mentioned, Joe Bonamassa.\u00a0 The Wall Street Journal noted of the album, \u201cIt takes a rare artist to help define the early days of rock \u2018n\u2019 roll and to still have the creative vitality to release a star-studded new album in 2020, but Dion DiMucci has done just that.\u201d The Associated Press offered, \u201cSounding as soulful as ever at age 80, Dion\u2019s talents on\u00a0\u2018Blues With Friends\u2019\u00a0<\/em>are still running strong and in great company.\u201d\u00a0 American Songwriter suggested, \u201cHis songwriting is as inspired and electric as it\u2019s been since he was a kid, writing \u2018The Wanderer\u2019 and other classics of rock & roll. He sounds as inspired, if not more, as he has through the decades.\u201d<\/p>\n
