HOLLYWOOD(Perfect Music Today) 11\/5\/20\/–\u201cWhat if I told you there was a reason for it all?\u201d declares the alt-right country singer\u00a0Tammy Faye Starlite<\/a>\u00a0at the top of her new show \u201cStanding By.\u201d Claiming to know the causes behind the disease, geopolitical displacement and chaos that have plagued us this year, she dissects modern America through classic rock and country songs, in preparation for the \u201cgreat awakening,\u201d a rapture-like event she mentions in the show.<\/p>\n

Starlite is the persona created by the left-wing artist Tammy Lang, as an exercise in empathy toward the\u00a0 positions of those on the other side of the political spectrum. But Lang knows there is no place for contempt when you\u2019re trying to see the world through the eyes of others.<\/p>\n

And so when Starlite unironically turns to the Rolling Stones\u2019 \u201cSympathy for the Devil\u201d or the Who\u2019s \u201cWon\u2019t Get Fooled Again\u201d to prove her points, she reveals a literalist \u2014 someone whose fear is real, albeit misguided.<\/p>\n
