The definitive album\u00a0Twist With Chubby Checker<\/em>\u00a0album has been remastered and will be made available for the first time on vinyl since the 1960s this September. The date dovetails with the 60th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of \u201cThe Twist\u201d having first reached #1 on Billboard\u2019s Hot 100 on September 24, 1960. A special 45 rpm 7\u201d vinyl of \u201cThe Twist\u201d with two B-sides will also be available along with the physical editions of the new, definitive\u00a0Dancin\u2019 Party: The Chubby Checker Collection (1960 \u2013 1966)\u00a0<\/em>on both CD and LP.\u00a0\u00a0Dancin\u2019 Party<\/em>\u00a0collects\u00a0twenty-one tunes that includes seventeen Top 40 hits, twelve of which hit the Top 20; seven hit the Top 10 with two going to #1, including the pinnacle recording of \u201cThe Twist,\u201d a single that two trips to the top.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PREORDER NOW<\/a><\/p>\n Twist With Chubby Checker<\/em>\u00a0has also been remastered for a digital release, with the single for \u201cThe Pony\u201d available immediately to stream and as an \u201cinstant grat\u201d track with pre-orders of\u00a0Twist With Chubby Checker.<\/em><\/p>\n LISTEN NOW<\/a><\/p>\n CD versions of two other newly compiled Cameo Parkway sets,\u00a0You Got The Power: Cameo Parkway Northern Soul 1964 -1967<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0You Can\u2019t Sit Down: Cameo Parkway Dance Crazes 1958 \u2013 1964\u00a0<\/em>are also being made available on September 25.<\/p>\n PREORDER NOW<\/a><\/p>\n In summer of 1960 \u201cThe Twist\u201d was released and first hit the Billboard chart on August 1st<\/sup>, sixty years ago this week.\u00a0 The tune raced to the #1 spot on Billboard\u2019s Hot 100 on September 24th<\/sup>\u00a0a matter of weeks later.\u00a0 Most remarkably, after the song was re-released in late 1961, it again arrived at the #1 spot on January 13, 1962, making \u201cThe Twist\u201d\u00a0the first record to occupy the #1 slot in two different run-ups, a feat unequaled to this day. The first release of the single in 1960 included \u201cToot\u201d on the flip side and the 1961 version carried \u201cTwistin\u2019 USA\u201d on its B-side.\u00a0 In recognition of that singular achievement the newly remastered version of \u201cThe Twist\u201d EP includes both \u201cToot\u201d and \u201cTwistin\u2019 USA.\u201d;;<\/p>\n At the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland, a new class was inducted, this time in recognition of their respective impact on music and culture. First among these in terms of cultural and commercial transcendence was \u201cThe Twist\u201d by Chubby Checker. Steven Van Zandt had the honor of inducting \u201cThe Twist,\u201d recalling the song would, \u201calong with The Pill, Hugh Hefner\u2019s Playboy philosophy and Helen Gurley Browns\u2019 \u2018Sex and the Single Girl,\u2019 be credited with starting the sexual revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n When Billboard celebrated the 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of its Hot 100 singles chart in 2008, \u201cThe Twist\u201d was declared the number one song of that half century span.\u00a0\u00a0That designation was bestowed on the record again in 2013 and 2015 and, yet again, when The Hot 100\u2019s 60th<\/sup>\u00a0year was observed.\u00a0\u00a0Each time, \u201cThe Twist\u201d held on to the top spot among over 27,000 individual titles by more than 7,500 artists.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThe Twist\u201d by Chubby Checker is in the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame more than 20 years ago.\u00a0\u00a0In its own time, \u201cThe Twist\u201d was recognized by the Recording Academy as the Best Rock & Roll Recording at the 1961 Grammy™ Awards.<\/p>\n Concurrent with the massive success of \u201cThe Twist,\u201d Cameo Parkway became one of the industry\u2019s most successful independent companies on par, in that era, with Motown.\u00a0 It accrued a vast artist roster with a strong emphasis on dance-oriented hits and its shares were even traded on the American Stock Exchange, a first for a record label. Checker\u2019s initial follow-up, \u201cLet\u2019s Twist Again\u201d was emblematic of this as were his many other dance floor and chart successes which are all collected on\u00a0Dancin\u2019 Party: The Chubby Checker Collection (1960\u00a0\u2013 1966).\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n You Can’t Sit Down: Cameo Parkway Dance Crazes 1958 -1964,\u00a0<\/em>features well known dance repertoire by the full spectrum of Cameo Parkway stars. Among whom are The Orlons, Dovells, Dee Dee Sharp, Bobby Rydell, The Applejacks and others along with Chubby Checker.
