NASHVILLE, TN (Perfect Music Today) 4\/21\/20\/– \u2013 For her second album on True North Records, Nashville-based singer Crystal Shawanda has channeled the spirit and strength of blues greats such as Etta James and Koko Taylor, paired with a contemporary delivery that makes the 10 tracks on Church House Blues <\/i><\/b>(out today) a rousing testament to her powerful vocal and songwriting abilities.<\/p>\n

Recorded at several Nashville area studios, Crystal Shawanda says that the recording sessions for\u00a0Church House Blues<\/i>\u00a0allowed her to express herself without feeling like anyone was looking over her shoulder. \u201cThis is the most I\u2019ve ever loved an album out of everything I\u2019ve ever done,\u201d she offers. \u201cThis is really who I am. It\u2019s my most definitive album yet. All these songs reflect different aspects of who I am. It\u2019s putting a finger on that definitively. I\u2019m not trying to prove anything. I\u2019m just being me. I\u2019m done with trying to fit in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crystal put together a special video talking about the things that inspired her in the writing and recording of this album. She talks about discovering blues music and the new world that opened up for her. While her upbringing isn’t typical of most, she explores thoughts that we can all relate to, particularly in these current times.<\/b><\/p>\n
