LONDON (Perfect Music Today) 10\/4\/`9\/–One of the greatest and most anticipated, unseen treasures in musical history will finally be revealed next month in London.\u00a0\u00a0The Jimi Hendrix Experience:The Royal Albert Hall<\/i><\/b>, a feature-length film that documents the last European performance of the original line up of the\u00a0Jimi Hendrix<\/b>\u00a0Experience<\/b>\u00a0will be screened to the public for the very first time since it was shot 50 years ago at the very location where it was primarily filmed:\u00a0 London\u2019s historic\u00a0Royal Albert Hall<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The surprise announcement came from Experience Hendrix L.L.C. and The Last Experience Inc which have partnered on the event set for the evening of Monday, October 21.\u00a0 Experience Hendrix, headed by Janie Hendrix, is the family owned company that administers the rights to recordings, performances and publishing associated with the late superstar.\u00a0 Last Experience Inc. is the production company, led by Jerry Goldstein, that originally partnered with Hendrix and documented the legendary performance on February 24, 1969.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

The Jimi Hendrix Experience:The Royal Albert Hall<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0has long been considered the holy grail of \u2018lost\u2019 films.\u00a0 It has never before been released on any format nor commercially screened anywhere in the world.\u00a0 It has remained unseen and been the subject of death, litigation and intrigue since its creation fifty years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film presents\u00a0<\/span>an extraordinary performance by the\u00a0Jimi Hendrix Experience<\/b>\u00a0and also chronicles the hours leading up to the concert with the crew granted unprecedented access to\u00a0Hendrix<\/b>\u00a0and his team throughout the day that preceded the performance, including backstage goings-on and a post-show reception. Producer Jerry Goldstein had the famed\u00a0Royal Albert Hall<\/b>\u00a0theatrically lit as if it were a movie set, resulting in a richly detailed film free of the primitive concert lighting of the era and bizarre camera zooms and pans that poorly served other films from that era.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This screening is a strict \u2018One Night Only\u2019 experience for fans as there are no current plans for a further release of the concert. Featuring a state-of-the-art sound system and giant screen, the show will be as close as you can get to seeing\u00a0Hendrix<\/b>\u00a0perform on that prestigious stage 50 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

While stray clips have irregularly surfaced on various bootleg markets, over the years, the authorized version to be screened at the Royal Albert Hall has been meticulously restored with remastered sound and\u00a0<\/span>colour<\/span>-corrected picture.<\/span><\/p>\n

To prepare the film for this unique anniversary event<\/span>, Jerry Goldstein and Glenn Stone of The Last Experience together with Janie Hendrix and John McDermott from Experience Hendrix painstakingly restored all of the original 16mm color film elements and prepared this feature length presentation. \u00a0The film\u2019s soundtrack was mixed by Eddie Kramer,\u00a0Jimi Hendrix\u2019s<\/b>\u00a0longtime recording engineer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The multiple 16mm cameras positioned throughout the\u00a0Royal Albert Hall<\/b>\u00a0by Goldstein in 1969 documented many of the finest ever performances from\u00a0Hendrix\u2019s<\/b>\u00a0legendary career.\u00a0 Definitive versions of \u201cLittle Wing,\u201d \u201cVoodoo Child (Slight Return),\u201d \u201cFire,\u201d \u201cFoxy Lady,\u201d and \u201cStone Free\u201d,\u201d offer an unparalleled, enveloping audiovisual experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

The original concert is one the most legendary performances by\u00a0Hendrix<\/b>\u00a0and the original iteration of the Experience.\u00a0 Chris Welch reviewed the show in Melody Maker one week later, writing, \u201cWhen he broke into \u2018Purple Haze\u2019 feet pounded the hallowed floors, and whistles pierced the Victorian dome. The\u00a0Hendrix<\/b>\u00a0electricity was still working, adding \u201cthe lengthy performance stretched his improvisational powers to the limit<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Jane Simmons discussed the sell-out audience\u2019s reaction when the band initially left the stage: \u201cThe crowd then went absolutely berserk and shouted for more for about 4-5 minutes. Some people started to leave as it didn\u2019t look as though they were coming back, but they did and then they went absolutely\u2026 \u00ad well, there is no word for it! People were dancing in the aisles. Jimi went mad with the atmosphere and they did\u00a0Purple Haze<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Wild Thing<\/i>. He played with his teeth and then on the floor\u2026. [the stage] was besieged by fans, police, bouncers, floor managers and practically the entire audience!\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Janie Hendrix commented, \u201cThis has been a long time coming but we always had faith that things would work out and the public would see this film that documents\u00a0Jimi Hendrix<\/b>\u00a0at the very peak of his powers.\u00a0 As those who are fortunate enough to see the showing next month at the very place where it was filmed will know, it has been well worth the wait and we are nothing short of delighted. The single word that springs to mind that describes this truly monumental development is \u2018historic.\u2019\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
