HOLLYWOOD (Perfect Music Today) 4\/30\/19–On June 7, ABKCO Films and ABKCO Music & Records will jointly release the\u00a0<\/span>Dolby Vision\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0and Dolby Atmos\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>restoration of the concert film\u00a0The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.<\/i>\u00a0The film will be released in a Limited Deluxe Edition which is a multi-format package of Blu-Ray, DVD, and a 2CD soundtrack. The film will also be available for digital download (TVOD) and for the first time available on Blu-ray. The movie, shot over two days in December 1968, features The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, impromptu<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>supergroup The Dirty Mac (John Lennon, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell, Eric Clapton), Yoko Ono in addition to the original lineup of The Rolling Stones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Filmed in a north London television studio by Director Michael Lindsay-Hogg (Let It Be, Ready Steady Go!<\/i>), and Cinematographer, Tony Richmond (Sympathy For The Devil \/ ONE PLUS ONE, Let It Be<\/i>),\u00a0The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus\u00a0<\/i>was a concert filmed against a Felliniesque circus backdrop with the band themselves as on-screen hosts in addition to performing.\u00a0<\/span>For the first time in front of an audience, \u201cThe World\u2019s Greatest Rock and Roll Band\u201d performs six Stones classics (\u201cJumpin\u2019 Jack Flash,\u201d \u201cParachute Woman,\u201d \u201cNo Expectations,\u201d \u201cYou Can\u2019t Always Get What You Want,\u201d \u201cSympathy for the Devil\u201d and \u201cSalt of The Earth\u201d).<\/span>\u00a0The audience, consisting of fan club members, contest winners and friends, witnessed what was initially envisioned as a BBC special to promote the band\u2019s \u2018Beggars Banquet\u2019 album. Those plans were abandoned in the wake of Brian Jones\u2019 departure from the band and subsequent death; the film wasn\u2019t officially released for the next 28 years.<\/span><\/p>\n
