“Bang! The Bert Berns Story,” the upcoming documentary that chronicles the life of legendary songwriter, producer and label chief Bert Berns.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hollywood (Perfect Music Today) 10\/6\/17\/–Music meets the mob in this biographical documentary, narrated by Steven Van Zandt, about the life and and career of Bert Berns, “the most important songwriter and record producer from the \u201860s that you\u2019ve never heard of.” His hits include \u201cTwist and Shout\u201d, \u201cHang on Sloopy\u201d, \u201cBrown Eyed Girl\u201d, \u201cHere Comes the Night\u201d and \u201cPiece of My Heart\u201d. He helped launch the careers of Van Morrison and Neil Diamond and produced some of the greatest soul music ever made. Filmmaker Brett Berns brings his late father\u2019s story to the screen through interviews with those who knew him best, and rare performance footage. Included in the films are interviews with Ronald Isley, Ben E. King, Solomon Burke, Van Morrison, Keith Richards, and Paul McCartney.<\/p>\n

The film was co-directed and edited by Bob Sarles with narration based on Joel Selvin\u2019s book\u00a0Here Comes the Night: The Dark Soul of Bert Berns and the Dirty Business of Rhythm and Blues.<\/em><\/p>\n
