G-Eazy
Irvine Meadows, CA (Perfect Music Today)7/15/16/–. G-Eazy, damn what a show. If you are caught up on my reviews, you know I have gone from Flogging Molly’s – Brad Paisly – Slightly Stupid – amongst other great bands and now G-Eazy. I will say, I enjoy Rap music and the talent and energy and the verbal cadence these artist bring to the public. Not a big fan of hate rap, but it has its following. G-Eazy has an interesting crowd. I have seen a lot of things during my tour of Irvine Meadows, but G-Eazy just went to the top of the experience. Oh where do I start? First off, I have to let all my readers know that LOGIC put on a great show and this was evident by the crowd reaction. Rarely is the house filled prior to the opening act, but when LOGIC started the crowd went crazy. As they should have, he was terrific. Just saying. The events that occurred this evening will be remembered in my concert career. First off, 40+ nonpaying patrons actually broke down the lawn fence, yes, broke down, not climbed over, broke down, and joined the show in lawn and during this, the entire crowd turned around to watch the assentation. G-Eazy actually paused for a second. Now, Live Nation takes every measure to ensure safety and proper seat assignment, but sometimes the crowd will alter the plan. And we have to do are jobs. Safety and security is Live Nations first and foremost priority. The crowd was filled with millenniums. I am a card caring gen X boy, but this crowd had a great time and didn’t puke that much. But, of all the shows I have worked I never seen so many women flashing the Ta-Ta’s. And security thanks you. We had to kick out a couple that was having sex in the Terrace section and to my knowledge there were only 6 arrests. Overall, good times. Tomorrow is Pacific Symphony Orchestra complete with fireworks BYOB! Should be a calm event.
Pacific Symphony Orchestra Fourth of July
Irvine Meadows, CA July 4, 2016. This show was tame. The crowd was older, the pit had seated dinner and wine service. You could actually bring in your own wine and cheese and blankets and chairs and weed. Pretty much everything we don’t let you bring in at any other show. Due to this not being a threatening crowd I was assigned to guard the employee entrance. It was not as exciting as working barricade, but I do what I need to be part of a great team. Although, my supervisor forgot about me and I had to pee in the brush. But, on the plus side I had a great view of the fireworks. There was a dedication to Michael Jackson with a decent cover artist. The crowd had a couple of drunk incidences, don’t know why, but you would think at their age they know their limits. Again, nothing surprises me at these shows. Follow me to Brian Adams on Friday July 9, 2016 8pm.
Bryan Adams
Irvine Meadows, CA July 8, 2016. The Brian Adams show was a benefit for the Shriners organization. And I am a huge fan of the Shriners organization, they help a lot of children. He did not have an opening act, but he played for two and a half hours. That’s a long set. I forgot just how many hits he had throughout his 13 album career. They were filming the show, so staff was asked to step aside and basically not be seen. This crowd was older, reliving moments from the 80’s. There were no incidences to speak of, a couple of ladies clearly had too much to drink, but beverage sales went to great cause. Oh yea, Mr. Adams does not like cannabis at his show. Until Rascal Flatts tomorrow, peace.
Rascal Flatts
Irvine Meadows, CA July 9, 2016. When staff prepares for a country show, you never know what you are going to get from the crowd. We prepare for a usual rowdy country show. Including, but not limited to intoxication, puking, long bathroom lines, ladies falling off their heels, lost cell phones, Lawn fires and a couple ambulance visits. All in a nights show. But to my surprise this crowd was nothing like the Brad Paisley crowd, but they were all there to see a great country line up. Chris Lane and Kelsea Ballerini opened for Rascal Flatts. It was nice to see a lot of people filling the house early to see the opening bands. Chris and Kelsea delighted their fans and it was nice to see both of them come back out during the encore to sing with Gary LaVox. Oh yea, it was Gary’s birthday! The fans sang Happy Birthday and the band brought out a cake. It was nice to see everybody having a good time. One of the best parts of the job is meeting some really nice fans. I want to give a shout out to Megan, Kylie, Shelly and Leah for making me laugh all night! And a huge 24 ounce thank you to Barbara and Tim! I enjoyed that beer after my shift. Thanks again. I’ll be here all summer, come back and enjoy the last year of the Irvine Meadow experience. Darius Rucker is this Saturday, July 16, 2016 8pm.
