As the stars go down on the Meadows….

Irvine,CA(Perfect Music Today)10/21/16/–Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, Irvine CA; It’s the end of Summer 2016 and Irvine Meadows Amphitheater had an incredible entertainment year. Bands included Slightly Stoopid, G-Eazy, Bryan Adams, Korn and Rob Zombie, Weezer and Panic at the disco, Mirada Lambert, Alabama Shakes, Jason Aldean, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, Dave Matthews Band, the wonderful Pacific Symphony Orchestra and many, many others. All the shows were great. Each artist attracted their own fan following. There were all the usual events; fans getting drunk and stupid. Fans jumping the lawn fence, evictions, bad bathroom etiquette and throwing up. Just a regular night at The Meadows, but that is what passionate fans do.

The consistent message with each of these bands was they were all honored to be a part of the last year of Irvine Meadows. Every headline artist reflected on memories of starting their careers at this location, opening for various bands, back stage stories and all around rock and roll antics. First time artists thanked the crowd for having the only opportunity to be a part of this historic venue. Anyone remember The Golden Bear in HB? Several bands are just going to come back to Irvine after the new homes are built and rock Irvine once again!

Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band play this Saturday 10/22/16 at 5pm. His people called Irvine Meadows and begged to play one last show under the stars of Irvine. They already miss this venue.

With only three shows left at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater including the infamous Jimmy Buffet and his Coral Reefer Band and two shows with the very talented Gwen Stefani, there is a sadness under the stars. The latest staff pre-meetings are filled with employee stories and memories of the Meadows. A part of OC history is now over. Be sure to support the “Save Live Music Irvine” project at www.savelivemusicirvine.com/.ber 30, 2016 will be the last show featuring Gwen Stefani.

I hear the goal is to rebuild another venue and continue outdoor music in Orange County. There is a rumor that Live Nation will build something temporary at another location. No specifics have been officially released, but I did hear the great crew at Local 504 talking about having to take the stage apart, move it, and re-build the stage at the new temporary location. So, there is hope for outdoor music in 2017!
